I don’t know about you, but I take Columbus’ coffee scene for granted. And I say that as someone who drinks a lot of coffee and loves on our city’s many shops and roasters. But it always feels significant when we get a new shop, especially one as thoughtful as Parable Coffee.
Parable set up shop inside Comune restaurant on Parsons Avenue, currently serving Fridays to Sundays. It’s a project from Ben Willis, Jeffrey Clark, and Wyatt Burk. Willis and Clark were formerly of One Line Coffee, while Burk ran the now-closed Little Ghost Coffee Roasters. They bring all the diligence behind brewing and serving coffee that we’ve come to expect from those places.

Their menu spans the usual suspects: espresso drinks, filtered coffee, tea, kombucha, plus seasonal or weekend specials. When I tried to tip them while ordering, they pointed out that they are gratuity-free, meaning prices are designed to include it already.

After chatting with the baristas to get recommendations, we tested the waters with a shot of espresso and an iced coffee, and found both to be superb.

The care and attention to detail plays through to the quality and preparation of the coffee.

And the warm welcome is hard to beat, too.

Parable is able to use Comune’s full space, so while most of the operation is currently geared toward carryout, they have a lushly appointed full back patio – perfect for sitting and sipping when the weather allows it!
